Why We Set Up NIN?

Neighbours in Need (NIN) was formed after two friends visited their country of birth and saw that among their own neighbours, surrounding villages and towns, there was so much poverty and many families and individuals were struggling to make ends meat.

Many families were on poverty line unable to afford basic neccessities, some were ill and unable to afford medical treatment, the children and disabled were ignored and left to struggle for basic needs.

For many years both friends had contributed to disaster funds, charities and many diffrent causes. It was always done with good intent but never knowing where the money was spent. Occasionally on previous visits they also contributed to people in their village who needed help on a “one of” basis. A contribution was made and then forgotten, never checking weather the person needed any further assistance.

After realising that they had been helping others in the world but never thought that within their own neighbourhood there was so many needy people who needed help on a regular basis and not a one off contribution. The sick needed help with medical treatments, the disabled needed assistance and widows needed food, school books and clothing for their children. This is the main reason Neighbours in Need came into being as it gave an opportunity to provide regular help to all the above on a monthly basis, income to support the bare necessities of life and any emergencies.

The aim of Neighbours in Need charity is to collect a small amount of money from generous and kind donors on monthly basis, and forward those funds to the needy so that they are not forgotten which tends to be the case with majority of charities where they provide help in emergency then these people are left to fend for themselves. This will now not happen as Neighbours in Need will provide funds on a regular basis to those who are in need.
